About Andy

As a former two-term State Representative, I have the experience to create the change in Lansing we need. If elected, I will be dedicated to bringing more good-paying jobs to Northern Michigan, expanding educational opportunities for our students, and ensuring that all Michigan residents have access to affordable health care.

Most recently, I served as the Fire Marshal for the state of Michigan, a position that oversees the training curriculum for Michigan’s 33,000 firefighters and conducts inspections of state facilities such as hospitals, schools and nursing homes. I oversaw the reorganization of the fire marshal office in 2005, creating a more streamlined department to better serve the residents of Michigan.

Prior to my time in the Legislature, I served as a firefighter and paramedic with the city of Alpena from 1982 to 1998. I was also a member of the Alpena Board of Commissioners from 1996 to 1998 and the Child and Family Services of Northeast Michigan board.
